Greetings fellow rider! As promised, my newsletter fans get the first exclusive preview of Book 2's cover! Say hello to An Ember Defiant. Doesn't it look beautiful? I particularly love the cracked crown and the green coloring underneath the scales! In other news, my article is getting published on the Bookbub Partner's Blog tomorrow. I'm not 100% sure what time they'll release it, but in it, I talk about my strategy on getting a Featured Deal, I share the day by day stats, and then I talk about how it affected my read-through rate. I got to pick my narrators last month, too! I got one for Kala and one for Soren. Podium picked 9 people and had them each read an 8 minute sample of my work, and lemme tell ya, it was super hard picking which ones I liked the most. I'm afraid I cannot reveal their names yet, but Podium told me they are locked in for the series. After listening to each narrator, I ended up going to Audible to sample their other works to get a taste for their vocal range, and that really helped me make my final selections. I was able to see who actually did fantasy/romantasy work and I got to see how their work was reviewed, too. One of the narrators I picked had audiobooks with hundreds of ratings, while the other one had thousands of ratings. Both narrators perfectly embody how the characters sound in my head. An Ember Defiant is coming along really well. I'm hoping to finish my first draft by the end of this month, and then I'll spend another month editing it and adding a few more scenes here and there. Defiant is on a far more grander scale than Rekindled, and there is soooo much happening in this book. Currently, I'm at 110k words (Book 1's length), and my new estimates are showing that I'll finish the first draft at 130k to 140k words now. I'm also in the running for a Kindle Daily/Monthly Deal, too! Got past the first hurdle after applying for it a month-ish ago, and now we have to sit and wait to see what happens. Really hoping I get it because it'll help a ton in getting my book in front of more readers. Oh, and one more thing! I'll be needing ARC readers for An Ember Defiant in a couple of months! If you're interested, please reply to this email and I'll put you on the list. Hope you have a great day! Best, Luke |
Luke McNamara is the author of The Second Bond series, a slow-burn dragon rider romantasy featuring defiant heroines and forbidden love. He resides in the upstate of South Carolina, where the Blue Ridge Mountains inspire much of his storytelling. When he’s not writing, he can be found getting lost on mountain trails or promising himself he’ll read just one more chapter.
Hey there! Got a lot of updates for you! An Ember Defiant Updates! These last three weeks have been the busiest of my life! I ran a giveaway, got far more involved with social media, and I spent every other waking moment revising An Ember Defiant further. My mom read the ARC version and came back with a bunch of ideas for improvement, specifically the scene where Kala exposes her scars to Soren at the end. She interpreted the part where Soren threatens to withhold affection if Kala doesn't...

I quit my job as a pharmacy tech a couple months ago and went full time as an author. With my Bookbub Featured Deal back in January, my Podium audiobook contract, and a bunch of other things that I have going for me, I...
